Flu Hits Mosh!!!

Dear Mosh Families,

We hope you are all enjoying a fun, wonderful and safe summer so far!  Our summer at Mosh has been all of those things and more!  We are also continuing to work very closely with the Harford County Health Department to make sure that we are doing everything we can to make sure our summer is as healthy as possible.

As some of you may have heard, we were informed late yesterday afternoon that we have several campers who have recently tested positive for H1N1 influenza.

Attached is a letter from the Harford County Health Department addressing this situation.  They have been a tremendous source of information, assistance and support for us at all stages this summer, including our pre-camp planning and development of policies and procedures specific to our H1N1 preparedness.  They have informed us that we have been doing all that we can in proactive and responsive measures, and they assured us that we should continue with our current practices, which are outlined in the attached letter and also include the following:

1.       We have reminders all around camp and during announcements regarding proper hand washing and coughing practices.

2.       We have hand sanitizer in every bunk, tent and building at camp.

3.       We have been vigilant in safe practices regarding the serving and consumption of food and beverages.

4.       We will make sure that any camper who has to arrive late to camp due to influenza-like illness will be welcomed with open arms and brought into the camp’s regular routine immediately.  In such a case, please contact us so that we can plan for your child’s late arrival to camp.

5.       Upon arrival to camp, each camper’s temperature will be checked as part of the first day walk-through at the infirmary.  Should a camper have a fever over 100˚ F and/or exhibit flu-like symptoms while at camp, we will call and ask that your child be picked up so that they can be cared for at home or in an alternate setting.  The required isolation period at camp and/or at home is 7 days, or symptom-free for 24 hours, whichever is longer.

The Harford County Health Department, has invited our families to contact them with any questions at (410) 612-1774.  You may also call me with any questions at (410) 893-7079.

Flu HitsWe are very impressed with and proud of all of our campers and staff who are currently here at camp.  They have all been exemplary in their careful attention and diligence at all levels!  We are excited to enjoy the rest of the summer with your children!

Yours in Mosh,

Jennafer Curran
