So I made it to Kisoro in 40 hours great time only had 4 layovers.  I am more accustomed now to the African chaos.  Here is a repost of my blogpost from last year since it is basically the same as what I just went through with a few edits to make it fit this year.  The pictures are from last year but it looked the same this year.

Hotel Rwanda

So I got to Uganda ok. First I flew to [Amsterdam]. In the airport they had a Museum and a Kids forest.  I tried to get on the internet and the machine ate my dollars and gave me back 1 euro for 3 dollars,  I hate euros.  THen I put that 1 euro in a snack machine and it ate my 1 euro and gave me back 10 euro cents,  I hate euros.  I switched panes again in Nairobi then had a stopover in Bukumbura where we stayed on the plane then finally landed in Kigali.   When I got off the plane I recognized that familiar Africa smell. Burning plus BO. What is burning? Wood? Leaves? Petroleum? Tires? Plastic? All of the above. To get from the plane to the arrivals hall we just had to walk all the way across the tarmac. There was no gate or bus or shuttle. We just walked across past all the planes. Like 500 yards. Since it was 3 AM we got to sky hotel really fast.

Driving it is always memorizing to look at all the people walking down the side of the road. One note: Everyone is skinny. No obesity. I spent the night in the Sky Hotel. It went smoothly and was uneventful. The next morning I was picked up by a driver to drive me across the border to Uganda to Kisoro. It took 3 and a half hours. He was the same guy who picked me up last year.  One surprising upgrade is that they paved the roads after you cross over the border from Rwanda to Uganda so it only took like 20 min to go 9 KM instead of 45.
